Discover the joy of making music in our Adult Piano Class, designed for beginners and returning students alike. In this six-week session, participants build technique, confidence, and musicality through supportive, hands-on instruction in a relaxed group setting. You’ll learn to read sheet music, understand rhythmic patterns and note values, explore intervals, chords, and musical terms, and play familiar tunes.

Develop your jazz skills and experience the energy of ensemble playing in the Butler Youth Jazz Program. This program gives students the opportunity to play in small combos, learn from local jazz professionals, and grow as improvisers and collaborators.

Chamber Players offers a collaborative and inspiring intergenerational experience, bringing together musicians of similar skill levels to form small chamber ensembles. Each participant is placed in a group that matches their experience. Students explore a wide range of repertoire while building ensemble skills, developing musical independence, and gaining confidence as both players and leaders.

Piano for Little Bulldogs introduces children ages 5–9 to music fundamentals through playful, hands-on learning at the piano. Grounded in creativity and exploration, students build foundational skills in rhythm, melody, technique, improvisation, and musicality. Each 50-minute group class combines interactive demonstrations, games, singing, movement, and creative activities—making music learning both fun and engaging from the very first note.

The Butler Strings Project gives young musicians an inspiring introduction to the world of string playing through engaging, ensemble-based orchestra classes. Designed for beginners and students with up to three years of experience, this program provides a supportive environment where students can learn, grow, and make music together. Participants build strong technical and musical foundations, develop teamwork and creativity, and gain confidence through regular performance opportunities.

The VA-Butler Veteran Modern Band invites Veterans, their family members, and VA staff to make music together in a welcoming, collaborative environment. Meeting weekly at Butler University, participants explore a variety of instruments, learn new skills, and connect through the shared joy of music-making. No prior experience is required. Beginners are especially encouraged to join. Participation is free, and instruments are available to borrow if needed.

The Adult Strings Ensemble welcomes both adults new to string playing and those returning after a time away from their instrument. In a relaxed, supportive environment, participants learn note reading and foundational techniques on the violin, viola, cello, or bass while enjoying the fun and camaraderie of making music together.

Adult Wind Ensemble is a welcoming space for adults to make music together—whether returning to your primary instrument or exploring a new one. Rehearsals are relaxed, collaborative, and focused on approachable, enjoyable music. This ensemble is perfect for anyone seeking the joy of playing in a group, building community, and sharing music. The semester concludes with a casual performance. No auditions. No pressure. Just music, connection, and a place to belong.
