Join the Butler University Percussion Ensemble for an electrifying evening of rhythm, color, and sound. This dynamic concert explores the full spectrum of percussion, where rhythm takes center stage and every beat tells a story. Butler’s outstanding percussionists perform on an expansive collection of instruments—from the thunderous power of bass drums and timpani to the shimmering resonance of vibraphones, marimbas, and cymbals. Each moment reveals intricate textures, bold energy, and surprising musical landscapes. The program features guest performances by two Butler percussion faculty artists: jazz drum set faculty member Chelsea Hughey and percussion instructor Craig Hetrick. Music by Casey Canglosi, Pat Metheny, Philip Glass, William Duckworth, Emmanuel Séjourné, and Victor LaBozzetta highlights the diversity and innovation of today’s percussion repertoire. Under the direction of Artist-in-Residence Jon Crabiel, the ensemble presents an exciting program that crosses genres and styles. Whether you’re drawn to classical, jazz, pop, contemporary, or world music, this high-energy performance promises something for every listener.
