Music at Butler: Transitions: Butler Spring Choral Concert
Eidson-Duckwall Recital Hall
No Tickets Required
Join the Butler University Chorale, Spectra, and Chamber Singers as we present “Transitions,” a choral showcase exploring significant changes, metamorphoses, and rites of passage through a choral lens. Featured works include selections by Franz Joseph Haydn, Jocelyn Hagen, and Jane Siberry. The Butler University Chorale is proud to also present “Peacebomb,” by Michael Bussewitz-Quarm. This work explores the “transition” of unexploded ordnance (landmines from past armed conflicts) into jewelry by Laotian villagers. Composer Bussewitz-Quarm (she/they) is at the forefront of new music composition in America, and also a passionate spokesperson for the stories and rights of transgendered persons. The concert performance also includes recognition of those graduating in May, as they transition from Butler students to proud alumni.
