Pianist Kate Boyd presents “Fanny Mendelssohn: A Year in Music,” a rare opportunity to experience one of the Romantic era’s hidden gems. Mendelssohn Hensel’s “Das Jahr” (The Year) is a cycle for solo piano that traces the seasons, through musical vignettes filled with color, imagination, and passion. Written in 1841 as a gift for her husband and left unpublished until its rediscovery in 1989, this once-forgotten work reveals Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel’s brilliance as a composer and offers the audience a captivating journey through the year.
