The Butler Arts Awards honor and celebrate outstanding achievement in high school musical theatre, showcasing the talent, creativity, and dedication of students across Indiana. Through this program, we strive to elevate the visibility of high school musical theatre, provide meaningful support to arts education, and highlight the vital role the performing arts play in enriching our schools and communities.

If your school is interested in participating in the Butler Arts Awards, please have a staff representative from your theatre/music department submit an interest indicator.
Public, private, parochial, and charter high schools across Indiana are invited to apply for participation in the 2027 Butler Arts Awards program.
The 2027 Butler Arts Awards registration form will go live May 1, 2026 and will be available on the teacher webpage. Each school interested in applying must designate one educator staff member to act as their school’s representative. This educator is responsible for applying for the Butler Arts Awards. In the meantime, please have your school’s designated representative fill out the interest indicator form.
The Butler Arts Awards follow the guidelines set by the Jimmy Awards to determine which productions qualify. Those can be found on the Jimmy’s website.
The 2027 Butler Arts Awards will take place at Clowes Memorial Hall on May 20, 2027. There will be tickets available to purchase for the public early 2027.
Over the course of a participating high school’s performances, 2-3 adjudicators will attend their production. Adjudicators will evaluate the production through a set of rubrics and provide written feedback. Feedback will be compiled by The Butler Arts Awards and shared with the schools.
