Fermata Duo, founded in 2021 by Li-Wen Weng and Naoko Wallace, brings together two classically trained musicians who share a deep love for traditional repertoire while embracing a spirit of exploration. Their performances span genres—from classical masterworks to anime, video game music, Disney, and global traditions—reflecting their curiosity and joy in music-making. Based in the Indianapolis area, they both teach and perform locally and beyond, committed to sharing their passion with every audience they encounter. In this program, Fermata Duo showcases works by five innovative 20th-century composers—Arnold Schoenberg, Darius Milhaud, Francis Poulenc, Nikolai Kapustin, and Astor Piazzolla—each of whom expanded the boundaries of classical music by blending it with elements of jazz, folk, or modern idioms.
